Norman Hunter
Norman joined Leeds United Football Club during the 1959/60 season. As part of the ‘Glory Days’ team, he played in over 700 games and achieved the following honors:
- 1963/64 - 2nd Division Champions
- 1964/65 - 1st Division Runners Up
- 1965/66 - 1st Division Runners Up
- 1966/67 - Inter Cities Fairs Cup Finalist
- 1967/68 - Inter Cities Fairs Cup Winners & League Cup Winners
- 1968/69 1st Division Champions
- 1969/70 FA Charity Shield Winners. 1st Division Runners Up. FA Cup Finalists
- 1970/71 1st Division Runners Up
- Inter Cities Fairs Cup Winners
- 1971/72 FA Cup Winners
Norman joined Bristol City in 1975 and stayed for 3 ˝ years before moving back up North. During his Managerial career Norman took Barnsley from the 3rd Division to the 2nd Division. He was also Manager of Rotherham United, and Assistant Manager at both West Bromwich Albion and Bradford City.
Internationally, Norman won 28 Full International Caps for England, and was part of the World Cup Squads for the famous victory at Wembley in 1966 and Mexico 1970.
In 1974 Norman was voted the first ever ‘Players Player of the Year’ by the Professional Footballers Association.
Currently Norman undertakes many duties within the media field, and is an established after dinner speaker.
